The role
As a Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will operate in support of the lead Project Manager covering specific project functions, deputising for the lead Project Manager or sometimes managing non-complex projects under supervision. The individual will be expected to apply all the central project management competencies to the required level.  

 

Day-to-day, you’ll manage, or part manage tasks as required and contribute to the whole lifecycle from concept through to in-service support. You will also:   

  • Procurement - The ability to secure the provision of resource needed for projects from internal and external providers. 
  • Requirements Management - Uses negotiation and influencing skills to arrive at agreed schedule of requirements including agreed success criteria.
  • Solution Development – The ability to determine the best means of satisfying requirements within the context of the project initiative’s objectives and constraints. 
  • Schedule Management – The process for developing, baselining, and monitoring of an integrated schedule to inform the direction of the project
  • Resource Management – the process of identifying and scheduling the resources (people/facilities/materials etc..) required to implement the programme

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

 

Essential experience of the Project Manager 

  • Can explain how their behaviours contribute to the achievement of the team
  • Can explain how their wider team contributes to the business unit
  • Takes appropriate decisions based on an informed judgement which may impact on others
  • Supports team to deliver excellent customer service
  • Solves more complex problems which may affect others

 

Qualifications for the Project Manager 

  • Professional Route – Ideally a degree in engineering or project management. Or appropriate accreditation to APM standards.
  • Experiential Route – HNC with appropriate apprenticeship / experience in a relevant engineering or project discipline.
  • Demonstrable knowledge or experience of working with common project tools (MS Office, Project etc.)

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
