The role
As a Dockside Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this role you will be responsible for tracking materials on and off nuclear submarines and transporting to and from the submarine.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be working in a safety critical role and will be required to perform accordingly.  

 

  • Track equipment on and off nuclear submarines.
  • Transport equipment safely to and from the submarine, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.
  • Secure items in transit and obey with the highway code.
  • Load/unload vehicles manually and with forklift trucks.
  • Maintain clear docksides at all times.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard 

 

There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP) within this role, OWP is currently in its pilot stage until 31st March 2025 and not guaranteed; it involves a 4-week shift cycle consisting of either day/back shift or day/night shift.

 

Essential experience of the Dockside Operative 

  • Full clean driving licence required, with previous experience driving vans - Desirable.
  • Forklift truck operating experience - Desirable.
  • Willingness to undertake development training.
  • Ability to work under pressure, alone or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of COSHH, Manual Handling and Risk Assessment Regulations.

 

Qualifications for the Dockside Operative 

  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Counterbalance FLT Operator - Desirable.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
