The role
As a Physical Security Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you will be responsible for implementing and managing security measures to protect Babcock from physical and other threats. You will collaborate with various teams, including IT, HR, and Legal, to ensure that security measures align with business goals and regulatory requirements. Your role will involve conducting risk assessments, implementing security policies and procedures, conducting investigations, and providing training to employees on security best practices.
 

Day-to-day, you’ll conduct security assessments: evaluate physical security measures and identify potential vulnerabilities, recording risk and escalating when appropriate.  

 

  • Develop security plans and reports: Create and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect against threats.
  • Oversee and contribute to the development of full security system requirements of people, process, technology, information and facilities, including the compliant installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to understand and implement technological security systems such as CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Coordinate and manage responses to security incidents, including assistance in investigations and reporting.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and other security agencies to enhance security measures.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. 

 

Essential experience of the Physical Security Manager

  • Extensive security management experience or a related field.
  • Experience in the armed forces or working within Defence – Desirable.
  • Understanding and managing security risks effectively and experience in conducting risk assessments and security audits.
  • Knowledge of security technologies and how to implement them.
  • The ability to lead a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • High levels of IT literacy are required, especially in all aspects of Microsoft Office, to write detailed reports and analyse/manipulate data. 

 

Qualifications for the Physical Security Manager

  • Level 5 Diploma in Security Management: This qualification covers principles of physical security management, including access control, surveillance, and perimeter protection.
  • BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Security Management: Offered by the Security Institute, this course provides a broad understanding of security theory and best practices.
  • Level 5 Certificate in Physical Security Management: 
  • Current UK Driving License 

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
