The role
As a Permit Controller, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers career development and training from our office onsite in Devonport, you’ll also be stepping on board Royal Navy Warships daily to carry out tasks in a varied role.
Day-to-day, you’ll be individually responsible for the practical implementation and application of company policies and working arrangements for systems, installation and locations for which they have been appointed. Key responsibilities will include:
• Authorisation of high risk activities
• Issuing and setting up of atmospheric monitoring equipment testing
• Auditing all authorised tasks and activities
• Engagement with stakeholders
• Carry out relevant training courses as part of continuous professional development
Please note that this position involves working in confined spaces. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Permit Controller
• Experience of working within an engineering or technical environment
• Stakeholder management experience
• Competent in verbal and written communications
• Computer literate and experienced in operating company software
• Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job, you will be required to work onboard ships to carry out daily tasks
Qualifications for the Permit Controller
• GSCE Grade C or above in Maths and English
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
