The role
As a PMO Planning Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock has started a series of Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) at Devonport in Plymouth. Over the next ten years Babcock will develop state of-the-art facilities to meet the evolving requirements of the UK’s Royal Navy.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll lead the MIP planning functional capability, supporting project teams across MIP on the application and management of all project planning, management and modelling across business winning and project delivery phases, primarily in complex situations, and to develop and maintain the associated management arrangements.  

 

  • Develop, and maintain the planning management processes in accordance with the company management systems.
  • Maintaining governance arrangements for planning management process through the project lifecycle, including the development and management of planning processes and deviations.
  • Co-ordination of reviews of planning artefacts through the project lifecycle and at specific project assurance gates. 
  • Ensure that the project schedules are being appropriately managed in accordance with MIP procedures on all projects within the portfolio.
  • Ensure that the project schedule baselines are being correctly managed through appropriate change control.

 

This role is full time 35, hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

 

Essential experience of the PMO Planning Lead

  • Planning / scheduling experience in a major project-based engineering environment – ideally in Nuclear or Infrastructure.
  • Schedule management for major projects.
  • Development and maintenance of master schedules
  • Worked with Project Managers to deliver successfully packages of work on major multi-disciplined projects.
  • Supervised and line managed junior members of planning staff.
  • Application, development, implementation and use of earned value management reporting and probabilistic schedules and QSRA.

 

Qualifications for the PMO Planning Lead

  • Ideally a bachelor's degree in engineering / project / construction management or a related field.
  • Member of professional association – APM or ACOSTE
