The role
As an Occupational Hygienist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As an occupational hygienist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary, significantly enhancing workplace safety and compliance, and ensuring the health and well-being of those working on critical infrastructure projects for the UK's Royal Navy.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll conduct workplace inspections, audits, and assessments to identify and mitigate health risks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. You'll measure exposure levels to physical, chemical, and biological agents, support the COSHH assessment process, and provide recommendations for reducing hazards. Additionally, you'll manage and disseminate occupational hygiene information, promoting safety practices through technical bulletins, toolbox talks, and continuous professional development sessions.You will also:

 

  • Advise management and employees on compliance with legislation related to noise, vibration, lead, and other hazardous substances.
  • Investigate and research new safety measures, implementing cost-effective solutions to maintain exposure levels as low as reasonably practicable.
  • Deliver presentations and write articles to educate colleagues and contractors on occupational hygiene best practices.

 

This role is full time 35hrs hours per week. Monday to Thursday, 0730 to 1530, Fridays there is a early finish, 0730 to 1230. Flexibility for this role is available when balanced with the onsite tasks in Devonport.

 

Essential experience of the Occupational Hygienist

  • Experience in occupational hygiene.

 

Qualifications for the Occupational Hygienist

  • Certification of minimum 4 BOHS core occupational hygiene modules - M(W): 501, 503, 505, 507.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
