The role

As a Mechanical Production Support Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your work directly supports the maintenance and operational readiness of critical Royal Navy platforms, helping to ensure they remain mission ready.

Day-to-day, you’ll support mechanical production activities across a diverse range of platforms including surface ships, submarines, and factory-based operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background and a passion for precision engineering in a defence or marine environment.

  • Assist in the mechanical assembly, maintenance and repair of components and systems on naval vessels and within factory settings.
  • Support production teams with tooling, materials and technical guidance.
  • Carry out inspections, fault diagnosis and basic testing of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards.

This role is full time, working 35 hours per week and based on site at Devonport.

  • Demonstrate proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and production support.
  • Have experience working on marine platforms, including surface ships or submarines, or within industrial manufacturing or maintenance environments.
