The role
As a Mechanical Fitter you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working with us, you will have the opportunity to use and develop your skills in areas that are both exciting and unique.
Day to day, you’ll use and develop your mechanical experience and depending on your unique skillset could be working within our Submarine or Warship business area as well as the British Army’s Supacat Vehicles.
• Work to engineering drawings and technical specifications
• You will remove, overhaul, and install a variety of mechanical equipment which could include hydraulics, weapons, water and fuel systems and LP/HP air, among other assets.
• Install and align new equipment.
• carry out system and equipment functional tests and surveys
Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter
• Have experience of working with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Have experience of working on, removing and installing mechanical equipment.
• Experience within the Defence sector or Automotive trade would be desirable.
This role is full time at 36 hours a week and onsite at the Devonport Royal Dockyard Ltd.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter
• Indentured Apprenticeship
• Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
• Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Armed Forces PO/CPO/NCO with mechanical specialisation
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
