As a Lead Finance Business Partner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision-making across the business. Working closely with finance and operational leaders, you'll help maximise financial performance, shape investment decisions, and support transformation programmes that drive long-term success.
This role offers the opportunity to combine senior financial leadership with business partnering and continuous improvement. You'll influence high-value initiatives, develop robust business cases, and provide insight that directly contributes to operational excellence and business growth. In doing so, you'll help support programmes that contribute to national security and critical infrastructure while developing your own leadership and strategic finance expertise.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to
- Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost control activities to ensure robust business performance.
- Support investment appraisals, financial evaluations and business case development for transformation initiatives.
- Lead transformation and business improvement strategies that enhance operational and financial outcomes.
- Identify financial risks and implementing effective mitigation and control measures.
- Promote a strong health, safety and continuous improvement culture across the business.
This is a Full-time role, working 35 hours per week, based at our Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.
Essential experience of the Lead Finance Business Partner
- Experience working within a senior finance leadership or business partnering role.
- Experience driving financial performance, growth and value creation.
- Strong investment appraisal and business case development experience.
- Knowledge of commercial, procurement and operational considerations including costs, risks and margins.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting, reporting requirements and relevant legal standards.
Qualifications for the Lead Finance Business Partner
Essential
- Relevant professional accounting qualification such as Chartered Institute of Management Accountants or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Desirable
- Additional leadership, business transformation or strategic finance qualifications would be advantageous.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
