The role
As the Head of Electrical Systems Group, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join us as a leader in electrical engineering, guiding a skilled team on diverse and exciting projects across Devonport, spanning both Nuclear and Non-Nuclear sectors. Play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions in a dynamic engineering environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll oversee the Electrical Systems Group, providing technical guidance on system designs, compliance, and continuous improvement. Lead project objectives, monitor progress, and ensure quality management while managing external contracts to support operational teams.
- Provide technical guidance on electrical system design, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead the Electrical Systems Group, setting objectives, monitoring progress, and managing operational responses.
- Drive continuous improvement using lessons learned and best practices.
- Ensure quality management aligns with Babcock’s Business Management System.
- Oversee external contracts supporting the Electrical Systems Group’s professional services.
This role is full time 35, hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Head of Electrical Systems Group
- Exhibit competence equivalent to a Chartered Engineer, showcasing a strong grasp of engineering theory.
- Possess supervisory-level understanding of Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited procedures.
- Maintain an extensive portfolio of originated project deliverables, including nuclear-related projects.
- Demonstrate breadth of engineering experience through a sizable volume of diverse projects.
Qualifications for the Head of Electrical Systems Group
- Relevant engineering degree OR recognised professional status OR significant experience in relevant engineering discipline with NVQ Level 4 in an engineering discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
