The role
As a First Line Manager - Welding, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role is working within the Warship’s Production Hub where you could be required to work across multiple platforms. 

Day-to-day, you’ll complete all production work allocated to targets set on cost, time and quality whilst maintaining safety and hygiene standards commensurate with the work in progress for your own and other trades where so affected by your work.

• Contribute technical input in delivering best schedules for your own work and the composition / skill base for the gang.
• Contribute technical input to the projects for welding tasks.
• Control / supervise resources allocated in achieving the main purpose of the job.
• Control the allocation of the gang members using best advantage of individual skills / attributes in meeting productivity, overtime, utilisation targets and delivery targets, reporting progress on a regular basis.
• Capture and report additional and rework activities.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the First Line Manager – Welding:

• Adequate knowledge and experience of hot work procedures and the associated hazards.
• The ability to understand and manage the challenges of working across multiple vessels prioritising labour to achieve the key dates.
• Good communication skills, verbal & written.
• Good IT / database skills (Company Computer systems)
• Previous supervisory experience

Qualifications for the First Line Manager – Welding:

• Level 3 NVQ in a Welding / Fabrication based apprenticeship or relevant experience.
