The role
As a Field Authorised Person you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Devonport Naval Base high voltage networks and associated plant and equipment to ensure that both 50Hz & 60Hz supplies are available to ensure both business continuity and nuclear safety.

 

Day-to-day, you will perform high voltage switching operations, respond to any MIP electrical support requirements and carry out high voltage electrical testing. 

 

  • Provide advice to MIP with respect to the HV rules and regulations on the DRDL site. 
  • Assist the MIP HV and LV teams with fault finding.

 

This role is full time working 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devenport, Plymouth. 

 

Essential experience of the Field Authorised Person

  • Experience of working on electrical distribution networks
  • Experience of working with high and low voltage systems
  • Previous experience of operating or maintaining electrical plant and equipment.
  • Problem solving, decision making skills with the ability to effectively address safety challenges and make sound operational judgements

 

Qualifications for the Field Authorised Person 

  • Time served apprenticeship and Leve3 l Electrical qualification.
  • Must be computer literate, eg MS office.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
