The role
As a Document Processing Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. To provide an efficient, cost-effective document processing service to support the Babcock Marine business unit, departments and external customers via the Devonport Reprographics Facility as directed by the Asset Management and Print Services Lead.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll use experience, initiative and discretion to advise and negotiate with customers the most cost-effective products that will suit their business requirements, using appropriate tools, methodologies, procedures, standards, policies and equipment under supervision but with infrequent reference to others.

  • Determine the most appropriate approach, tools and techniques to use in order to perform their tasks and to meet customer requirements
  • Ensuring that work accepted is carried out in the most cost-effective manner and is to a quality that is fit-for-purpose
  • To recommend, and take part in, the selection of reprographics equipment and processes
  • To manage and control the output for high quality print production. i.e. re-dedication brochures, leaflets, magazines and booklets


This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport.

 

Essential experience of the Document Processing Technician:

  • Flexible, can-do attitude adapting quickly to new technology, methods and standards
  • Self-motivated with an enthusiastic attitude and ability to use initiative in order to achieve results
  • Forward thinking – considers the broader implications
  • Experience in print finishing: Guillotining, collating, booklet making, numbering, perforating, gluing, padding,  stapling, perfect binding and auto creasing
  • Good knowledge of print processes and a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Have a full understanding and excellent working knowledge of all equipment and technology used to provide products and services

 

Qualifications for the Document Processing Technician:

Security Clearance

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
