As a Document Controller, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the safety, compliance and regulatory assurance of one of the UK’s most complex and high‑consequence defence environments.
Day-to-day, you’ll be joining the Nuclear Regulation and Compliance Group, where your work directly contributes to maintaining Devonport Royal Dockyard’s Licence and Authorisation Condition Framework. - Record, manage and track all incoming and outgoing nuclear regulatory correspondence.
- Administer the Corporate Correspondence Database and support system testing of NDMS‑related digital tools.
- Update controlled documentation, including the Devonport Royal Dockyard Site Licence Manual, and prepare weekly correspondence status reports.
- Administer and support users of the Nuclear Documentation Management System (NDMS).
- Support the Regulatory Interface Coordination Cell by maintaining documentation, supporting audits, and providing assistance during peak periods.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Document Controller
- Strong administrative and coordination experience within a complex, process‑driven or regulated environment (defence, nuclear, aerospace, rail, energy or similar).
- Experience working with document control systems and databases, with the ability to manage sensitive correspondence and maintain accurate records.
- Skilled at producing reports, updating controlled documents and supporting audits.
- High attention to detail and confidence following strict processes and procedures.
- Ability to support testing and troubleshooting of digital tools and systems.
Qualifications for the Document Controller
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C / 4–5 or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3 or Level 3 qualification in Business and Administration or Customer Service Practitioner.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
