As a Deputy Plant Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of critical nuclear site infrastructure.
Day-to-day, you’ll join our Nuclear Site Plant Management organisation, working closely with expert engineering, maintenance and operations teams to ensure essential electrical distribution systems, ancillary services and mobile crane operations run safely and efficiently. You’ll also support major construction programmes across the site, helping ensure electrical supplies are safely diverted and reinstated as part of complex redevelopment projects.
- Lead cross‑site coordination to ensure safe operation of electrical distribution systems and other critical services.
- Support the delivery and ongoing management of site-wide safety cases, ensuring operational compliance.
- Act as the interface between Plant Management teams, overseeing timely production and distribution of the submarine daily state sheet.
- Ensure maintenance activities are planned, controlled and delivered in line with regulatory and licensing obligations.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, construction and regulatory stakeholders to maintain safe and compliant site operations.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Deputy Plant Manager
- Demonstrable experience in plant or facility management within a regulated environment.
- Strong background in safety case development and implementation.
- Experience engaging with a broad range of internal, external and government stakeholders.
- Previous involvement in plant authorisation groups - Desirable
- Experience as a Duly Authorised Person - Desirable
Qualifications for the Deputy Plant Manager
- Degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering).
- Chartered Engineer status - Desirable
- Nuclear Familiarisation course level 1–4 - Desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
