The role

As a Commissioning Engineering Package Manager, you’ll be a key part of our Naval Nuclear business, helping to ensure that UK Royal Navy submarines can safely and successfully return to service. This role places you at the heart of some of the most complex and meaningful engineering work in the defence and aerospace sector.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll shape engineering solutions that directly support the commissioning group, ensuring they have the specialist equipment required to conduct critical testing on board submarines.

 

  • Manage commissioning engineering equipment projects from initial user requirements through to point‑of‑use delivery.
  • Produce and present compelling business cases to secure funding for complex engineering projects.
  • Act as the single point of contact for project stakeholders, leading multidisciplinary resources as requirements evolve.
  • Work closely with the Devonport Engineering team to align technical deliverables across projects.
  • Drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful project delivery.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

 

Essential experience of the Commissioning Engineering Package Manager

  • Strong understanding of the engineering design lifecycle.
  • Experience with commissioning requirements or delivering engineering projects.
  • Background in a highly regulated industry (Nuclear, Medical, Aerospace, or Oil and Gas) and associated safety standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and managing changing priorities.

 

Qualifications for the Commissioning Engineering Package Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Professional accreditation achieved or being worked towards (IEng or CEng).
  • Additional professional development or technical qualifications related to system engineering, nuclear engineering, or project management. - Desirable

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
