The role
As a Commercial Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you will be supporting contract management activities to ensure the financial and commercial interests of the company are optimised.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be part of the Commercial team who support contract management of the principal submarine contract which requires the processing of contract changes, providing advice on the contract, setting up Non-Disclosure Agreements, supporting internal and external meetings, working with finance to provide accurate forecasting and taking time to develop yourself with training and support to meet your commercial competencies. 

 

  • Provide/issue subcontract tenders, carry out evaluations, prepare/issue subcontracts and provide pre and post-contract award commercial administration.
  • Liaise with the Project teams providing commercial support, advice and reporting on a wide range of prime and subcontract issues during contract execution and close out.
  • Assist and maintain the commercial point of contact to stakeholders both internally and externally, together with the provision of commercial representation at meetings.
  • Work with commercial representatives to select and prioritise improvement initiatives to meet department requirements and objectives.
  • Process timely responses to all correspondence and queries and provide information as required.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. This role requires regular travel to Bristol on a monthly basis.

 

Essential experience of the Commercial Advisor

  • Commercially astute with a broad understanding of the procurement process.
  • Good communication, presentation, networking and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify commercial risks, propose steps to mitigate, and communicate effectively.
  • Professional, positive and supportive approach to both suppliers and customers.

 

Qualifications for the Commercial Advisor 

  • World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) (previously IACCM) chartership (this will be offered to you if you don’t have this or an equivalent)

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
