The role

As a Combat Systems Senior Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting submarine Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) systems, technology that underpins the Royal Navy’s ability to operate safely, effectively, and decisively.

  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Defence, the Royal Navy, Babcock teams, and industry partners to tackle complex engineering challenges.
  • Investigate and recommend solutions for C4I issues, shaping design improvements and influencing future submarine development.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of engineering outputs, from requirements understanding through to review and acceptance.
  • Apply domain knowledge to improve integration, ease of support, and long‑term system performance.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with regular travel to Babcock Technology Centre, Bristol and other UK Defence sites.

  • Operational and engineering experience of submarine C4I systems, with A and V Class Combat Systems knowledge highly desirable.
  • Recent at‑sea or operational C4I experience.

  • Understanding of Ministry of Defence structures and procurement processes.
  • Experience in regulated industries and ability to collaborate with wide and diverse stakeholder groups.
