About the programme
The maintenance of the Royal Navy's ships and submarines is essential to safeguarding our nation and its interests. On this programme, you'll discover how the Facilities Engineering Design team plays a pivotal role in maintaining these critical assets, while developing a deep understanding of design and maintenance processes, as well as the equipment involved.
Civil Design Engineering at Babcock Working alongside experienced design engineers in a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll use state-of-the-art CAD tools to produce drawings and specifications for both new and modified platform maintenance facilities and equipment.
You will contribute to delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, applying the latest techniques and practices to develop cost-effective solutions that meet our net-zero carbon goals.
What you'll need
· A BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) degree accredited by ICE.

Where you'll be based
Places on our Civil Design Engineering programme for Autumn 2025 are available in our Nuclear sector in Plymouth.
Our business in Plymouth works in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Royal Navy at HM Naval Base Devonport. We provide through-life support for submarines, surface ships and associated systems and equipment as part of our continuing commitment to support our nation’s naval capability.
Depending on your programme, your home base could be Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. However, some of your placements may be at other sites.
