The role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the Disposal Team who are responsible for the safe and secure delivery of all out-of-service submarines at Devonport. You will be working collaboratively with the team and customer to help develop the most cost-effective strategy for the totality of future submarine disposals.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be deputising and supporting the Project Managers in the delivery of all aspects of project management as part of the Disposals Team.   

 

  • Supporting the Project Manager and the Disposal Business Support Hub (BSH) in the management of governance through engagement with stakeholders across the project.
  • Delivering key project management functions in support of the overall project delivery.
  • Supporting the development of accurate and up-to-date financial and schedule estimates - this includes developing and agreeing requirements, project scope and solutions for specific outputs.
  • Supporting the planning, monitoring and control of work packages.
  • Undertaking stakeholder management and communications activities.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

 

Essential experience of the Assistant Project Manager

  • Demonstrable evidence of (or potential for) team leadership.
  • Demonstrable evidence of stakeholder and communication management.
  • Demonstrate evidence of consolidated planning and requirements management.
  • Strong communicator both verbally and written.
  • Demonstrative involvement in project management including full project lifecycle experience.

 

Qualifications for the Assistant Project Manager

  • Undergraduate Degree in an appropriate engineering or management discipline – Desirable
  • Project Management qualifications, such as APM Project Fundamentals Qualification – Desirable.
  • Project Planning and Controls Foundation – Desirable.
  • Nuclear Plant Foundation Course (NPFC) – Desirable.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
