The role
As an AST Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will carry out routine and bespoke inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis mechanical/electrical repair to a wide range of advanced military wheeled vehicles to Level 1-3 Maintenance Standards.

Day to day, you’ll utilise repair manuals, spares lists and modern diagnostic schematics through modern media assets as required.

• Deliver the production plan
• Ensure use of correct tools (with in-date calibration evidence), plant/machinery available to deliver the plan
• Ensure H&S standards are followed including use of PPE, safe working areas, near miss and accident reporting and adherence to risk assessments
• Ensure management chain is notified of risks of meeting output plan as soon as is apparent

Essential experience of the AST Vehicle Mechanic:

• Experienced IT skills competent at utilising laptops and diagnostic computers with a good understanding of MS Word and Excel
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to challenge and have awkward conversations
• Ability to make rational decisions based on information available

This is a full time, hybrid role based in Kenya and Oman.

Qualifications for the AST Vehicle Mechanic:

• A recognised qualification in Automotive Engineering with a minimum City and Guilds level-3 or BTEC/IMI/NVQ equivalent or has served in HM Armed Forces as a Vehicle Mechanic Class One.
• B1 Driving Licence  

The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS/SC security clearance for this role.
