The Role
As a Senior Communications Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a significant part in a supportive and cohesive team, acting as a trusted provider for global defence and security, we have a wide portfolio of best-in-class technical solutions and services that enable our customers to carry out their missions.
Day-to-day, you’ll carry out preventative and corrective maintenance ensuring that the transmitters, receivers, and associated control equipment perform to operational requirements and to deputise for the Deputy Station Manager in their absence.
- Carrying out operational and maintenance work on transmitters, receivers, and associated control equipment as part of the engineering team.
- Supporting the engineering team in all operational and technical matters and maintain technical and administrative records and provide information as required.
- Promoting safe conduct at work ensuring safe working practices are applied in accordance with Babcock Safety instructions, possessing adequate knowledge of, and compliance with, the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities.
- Carrying out lone working duties at appropriate sites.
- Demonstrating flexibility by multi skilling in other departments when necessary.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week is based on site at Crimond, Aberdeenshire.
Essential Experience of the Senior Communications Engineer
- Basic record of proven ability in related work. Have a Strong and positive attitude and ability to demonstrate competence in operational and maintenance duties.
- Ability to work to demanding timescales demonstrate competence in solving technical issues.
- Experience of safe working practices and safe systems of work
- Experience of data communications and networking technologies, high power transmitters
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Application software.
Qualifications for the Senior Communications Engineer
- Qualified to BTEC National Diploma in Engineering (Electronic or Electrical) or equivalent.
- Possession of full UK driving licence.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a SOLE UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate can start on Security Check (SC) security clearance but will need to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance once in post.
