About the role

A great opportunity has become available to join Babcock Training Limited, currently working in a partnership with the Network Rail as an Apprentice Development Coach. Network Rail currently recruits c/ 200 individuals for each intake of their programme.
The successful candidate will report into the Apprentice Development Coach Manager and they work independently in the York office with occasional travel to Westwood (Coventry) where some other team members are based. 
The main focus of this role will be to provide support within the first 12 weeks of the programme to around 30 apprentices at once time. That would entail of running the induction and the sign up process, deliver safeguarding and protecting British values training as well as running reviews on weeks 2, 7 and 11 and documenting them accordingly evidencing course progression. In addition, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact in dealing with any issues to do with apprentices’ welfare and safeguarding.

What do I need to do the role?

In order to be considered, previous background within training, coaching or mentoring is highly beneficial. We’ll also look at candidates who come from sectors where they’ve worked with young individuals or vulnerable adults where they were exposed to safeguarding and welfare support.

Some of the key skills/ characteristics that will make you a success in this role are:

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Solid understanding of the apprenticeship programme.
• Having an empathetic nature whilst dealing with young individuals.
• Extremely well organised and able to manage workload independently.
• Strong IT skills.


What else do I need to know?

• The successful candidate must be willing to go through a DBS check.
• As this person will be a sole Babcock representative in York, we’re looking for someone who would genuinely feel comfortable to be in that position.
• Interviews are likely to take place 26,27 or 28th of November.
• This role will involve travel to Westwood on average twice per month.
