This is a great opportunity to be part of an experienced team and play a key role in the maintenance of the Facility Processing and (FAST) Fixture Assembly Static Test Facility, systems and equipment at RNAD Coulport.


Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a Facility Processing Operator / Maintainer who will undertake the Examination & Testing of Lifting Equipment and conduct operations on Facility Processing and (FAST) Fixture Assembly Static Test Facility, systems and equipment.

What will you be doing?

  • To work as the FAST Operator / Maintainer in conjunction with Babcock Marine Lifting Examination and Test Engineers (LEETS) in performing periodic load testing and recertification of Trident SSE in accordance with appropriate Weight Test Data Sheets.
  • Identification & recertification of all system, defects and alterations on Trident Surface Support Equipment (SSE) and facility equipment within F.A.S.T. Area.
  • Carry out thorough examinations and testing iaw LOLER Regulations on all on site Lifting Equipment as required.
  • Work on various aspects of Mechanical Fitting.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales. Conduct Quality Control Inspections, in accordance with relevant documentation.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.
  • Working at height to carry out maintenance on F.A.S.T. 
  • Assist in providing familiarisation training for new staff (RN & Civilian) in the operation & maintenance of Facility Processing systems and equipment.

The experience you’ll bring

  • A knowledge in the Examination & Testing of all forms of Lifting Equipment is desirable.
  • Previous mechanical experience within an Engineering, Maintenance or Estates environment.
  • Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ and C&G equivalent).
  • Experience in Non Destructive Testing.
  • You will have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding. Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk, and COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent team working and interpersonal skills. 
  • You must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role
