The role

As a Maintenance Electrician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital role in maintaining and supporting critical electrical infrastructure within a unique and highly secure defence environment. Working as part of a skilled and collaborative team, you'll help ensure the safe and reliable operation of a wide range of facilities and equipment that contribute directly to national defence capabilities.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

 

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities on electrical systems and equipment across site.
  • Performing fault finding, testing, inspection and repair work to maintain operational performance and compliance.
  • Maintaining overhead cranes and associated electrical equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Completing maintenance records, reports and documentation accurately and in line with company procedures.
  • Following safe systems of work, risk assessments and health and safety requirements at all times.

 

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

 

Please note that this position involves working in confined spaces. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces.

 

Please note that this position involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights.

 

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 07:15 – 16:45 and is based on site at Coulport.

 

Essential experience of the Maintenance Electrician

  • Experience carrying out electrical maintenance activities within industrial, engineering, manufacturing or commercial environments.
  • Experience in fault finding, repair, testing and inspection of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work and working within regulated environments.
  • Experience maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance documentation.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation, risk assessments and safe working practices.

 

Qualifications for the Maintenance Electrician

  • SVQ Level 3 in an Electrical discipline, or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Electrical Testing and Inspection qualification is desirable
  • Additional qualifications or training relevant to electrical maintenance is desirable

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
