The role

As an Electrical Fitter within our Explosive Handling Jetty (EHJ) Facility, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of operations that support the UK’s defence capability. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly contribute to the safety, reliability and performance of critical systems. You’ll be part of a close-knit team, working in a dynamic environment that offers real career progression and personal growth.

 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Performing electrical fitting, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related tasks
  • Identifying and resolving system defects to maintain operational readiness
  • Suggesting improvements to systems and processes to boost productivity
  • Working within Health & Safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work.

 

 

This is a full-time, permanent role, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (07:15 – 16:45), based on site at RNAD Coulport.

 

 

Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter:

  • Previous experience in a marine or industrial engineering environment
  • Skilled in electrical maintenance and fault finding
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and adverse weather
  • Able to read technical drawings and solve problems independently
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures, COSHH and risk assessments.

  

 

Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter:

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent)
  • OR HNC and above in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience.

 

  

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
