The role
a Senior Security Specialist, you’ll play a central role in strengthening the operational security of the UK’s satellite communication infrastructure. You’ll ensure physical and personnel security controls are robust, compliant, and aligned to national security requirements making a real impact on defence capability, public protection and future technology resilience.
This is an opportunity to shape a critical security framework, influence key stakeholders, lead assurance activity across multiple sites, and grow your expertise within a dynamic defence, engineering and aerospace environment. Day-to-day, you’ll:
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of operational security across all satellite communication sites and activities.
- Ensure security controls are embedded, proportionate to risk and aligned to contractual requirements.
- Act as the delegated Contract Authority lead for the external physical security service provider.
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs and compliance metrics, ensuring timely remediation of performance shortfalls.
- Conduct site inspections, assurance audits and compliance checks to ensure alignment with GovS007, JSP 440, JSP 490 and contractual obligations.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Security Specialist
- Significant experience operating in a security management role within a defence, government or other high-assurance environment.
- Strong experience in security risk management, including conducting formal risk assessments, and implementing risk treatment plans.
- Practical working knowledge of UK Government security policy frameworks, including GovS007 SPF and JSP 440.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance inspections and customer assurance reviews.
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience, with experience designing or delivering security enhancement programmes using structured methodologies.
Qualifications for the Senior Security Specialist
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in Security Management, Risk Management, Cyber Security or a related discipline.
- Professional security accreditation (e.g. membership of a recognised security institute or chartered status where applicable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. Must be Sole UK National.
