The role
As a Baseband Network Architect, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The role will provide IP and Serial networking expertise to baseband projects across the Skynet programme.
 

Day-to-day, you’ll design and implement networking solutions through to supporting handover to operational support, considering multi-supplier/multi-platform environments across the estate acting as Baseband Technical Design Authority (TDA) for the Skynet network, applying the principles of secure network, applications, gateways & interfaces across the estate, as well as:

  • Support Incident Response teams acting as a 4th line technical lead to resolve complex technical problems.
  • Provide input into the technical steering community and various project working groups, defining requirements for Suppliers, ensuring the proposal and deliverable meets the needs of the business and produce, peer-review and maintain high-level, low-level technical documentation and network schematics.
  • Support the delivery of Baseband Architectures/Strategies as part of a broader Enterprise and IS/IT Architecture, interpreting and applying appropriate standards, policies and legislation whilst working with Information Assurance (IA) leads from the programme.
  •  Evaluate new technologies and deliver cost benefit analysis to support business use cases to identify and mitigate technology and service risks.
  • Develop, implement & maintain processes to ensure the continued reliability, supportability, and operation of Skynet networks.

 

This role is full time and is a hybrid role with a mixture of working from home and working onsite at our Hawthorn location.


Essential experience of the Baseband Network Architect:

  • Experience in implementing and supporting common network technologies in enterprise environments including those from Cisco, Juniper and Fortinet. A strong understanding of Cisco ASR/ISR Routing and a valid CCNP Routing & Switching Certification
  • Experience in design and implementation of both cloud, on premises and hybrid network topologies
  • Experience in design and implementation of Cisco Catalyst Core, DNAC, Catalyst Manager - Distribution & LAN Access Switching, WAN (SDA – SD-WAN Fabric deployment experience essential).
  • Experience in the production and implementation of High Level and Low-Level Design’s
  • Experience of JSP604 and ‘Secure by Design’ security principals


Qualifications for the Baseband Network Architect:

  • CCNP Routing & Switching Certification
  • HNC (Level 4) or equivalent in a STEM subject
