About the role

Babcock International is one of the largest providers of support services to the emergency services sector. We manage vehicles and equipment on behalf of organisations such as London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police Service and the Highways Agency. And as one of our Vehicle Mechanics, you’ll play a vital role in keeping their vehicles on the road and in great working order.

You will be responsible for the technical repair of military and commercial pattern wheeled vehicles, and towed and ancillary equipment in accordance with faults noted on inspection or reported by the user.

Working from Chatham, you’ll find that no two days are the same as you service, repair and complete a variety of vehicles and equipment to high quality standards.

You will also carry out servicing on the full range of equipment supported in accordance with their respective servicing schedules.

What do I need to do the role?

First and foremost you’ll need to be educated to Level 2 in mechanical engineering, vehicle maintenance or similar (NVQ, City & Guilds) as a minimum.

You will also have previous experience as a vehicle mechanic, from either civilian or military background, and hold a valid and appropriate UK driving licence.
