About the programme 

 

At the heart of your learning experience is our state-of-the-art design office, where your day-to-day activities will cover a range of tasks including:

 

  • Assisting in producing scoping calculations and providing vital support in analysis.
  • Creating intricate models and detailed drawings.
  • Crafting design-based documentation and client-centric technical reports.

 

You’ll also experience the breadth of our operations through exciting placements across various business sectors.

 

By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll be ready to make an impact in the world of electrical design, equipped with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

 

Your education/training

 

You’ll receive practical and theoretical training, combined with company-specific training given in the workplace.

  

At Lakes College, you'll work towards the Level 5 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship. This blend of classroom learning and on-the-job training will make sure you're well-prepared for a career as an Electrical Designer. 

 

What you’ll need  

 

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Science, with Maths at Grade 5 (B) or above.
  • 3 A Levels in related subjects or an equivalent Level 3 qualification, e.g., BTEC.
  • Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). For our early careers roles, you must be able to achieve BPSS and many of them require you to be eligible for Security Clearance.
