The role
As a HEMS Captain you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary; you'll be supporting the East Anglian Air Ambulance, providing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services across the English counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.
You'll operate Multi-Pilot HEMS and Air Ambulance missions, both by day and utilising NVIS for night operations, delivering enhanced emergency medical and trauma care across the region.
This role is full-time, and base onsite at Cambridge Airport. The HEMS Captain is required to reside within 45-minutes / 25-miles of Cambridge Airport, or make arrangements for accommodation at their own expense.
Essential experience of the HEMS Captain:
- Hold an EASA ATPL (H)
Either:
- 1000-hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500-hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters;
or
- 1000-hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500-hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100-hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters
and
- 2000-hours minimum total helicopter experience
- 500-hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation
- 20-hours VFR at night as pilot in command
Other Requirements for the HEMS Captain:
- Clear, concise English language and communication skills
- Full Driving License
- Current / valid passport
- Hold, or be able to achieve SC security clearance
