As a Trade Controls Specialist, you'll play a vital role in helping Babcock deliver and grow complex defence and international programmes. Working with stakeholders across the business, you'll provide expert advice on trade controls, export compliance, licensing and regulatory requirements, ensuring projects are delivered compliantly while supporting strategic growth.
This is an opportunity to join a specialist team at the heart of programme delivery, where your expertise will help protect the business from regulatory risk while enabling the movement of products, technology, software and information across global markets.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Providing specialist trade controls and export compliance advice to project teams and business functions.
- Managing import, export, transfer and licensing activities in line with regulatory requirements.
- Identifying and supporting the management of trade controls risks, sanctions and due diligence obligations.
- Supporting bids and business development activities by identifying compliance requirements early in the process.
- Maintaining compliance records, supporting audits and delivering guidance and awareness training across the business.
This role is full time working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working patterns are available. Regular travel to Babcock sites including Andover, Bovington, Bristol, Plymouth and Walsall will be expected.
Essential experience of the Trade Controls Specialist:
- Experience within Trade Controls, Export Controls, Customs Compliance or a related compliance and governance discipline.
- Working knowledge of UK Export Control legislation and licensing requirements.
- Ability to interpret legislation, policy and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to engage confidently across all levels of an organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify practical solutions to complex challenges.
Qualifications for the Trade Controls Specialist:

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
