About the role


Here at Babcock International we are recruiting for a Software and IT Support Manager to join the team working on the Type 31 project.
The MoD Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment. The Project is the pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy and will be delivered in an innovative manner at pace with all 5 ships to be in-service by Dec 2028.
As the Software and IT Support Manager you will be responsible for the day to day management of all ILS related aspects of Software and IT Support.  Recognising a high proportion of equipment and systems use software applications, this role is key to ensure the full scope is captured in the overall planning of life-cycle support.  

 

What do I need to do the role?

 

You’ll need experience of Support IT, Software Tools and Processes, with good experience of Data Management.

 

It is desirable if you have a working understanding of appropriate ILS Defence Standards including 00-600, JSP 543and ASD-Series of ILS specifications and ILS applications including Slicwave. (But not essential)

 

Lastly you will be used to working in complex, multi-disciplined teams with strong communication skills and the ability to deliver well structured, unambiguous technical documentation and reports.
