Front End Developer

About the role
We are recruiting for a Software Developer to work within Babcock International on Defence Systems Technology projects.

As a Software Developer you will work as part of a team to develop software solutions. You will have an understanding of various development methodologies (Agile\Waterfall) and Design Patterns. You will have a good working knowledge with Enterprise application development and Automated Test Environments and experience with Java, HTML, CSS, UI frameworks and Relational Databases.


Your responsibilities will include;

  • Producing and maintaining front end applications to meet customer requirements
  • Documenting the design and code
  • Full-stack software architecture and design – desirable
  • Use of various software development tools for Issue Tracking, Configuration control and software unit testing.
    What do I need to do the role?
  • Skills and Experience:
  • An understanding of both agile and more traditional development methodologies such as waterfall.
  • Experience in using {what} tools for development of Desktop or Web Applications.
  • Experience with an Automated test framework.
  • Experience of Front End Software development including:
    • JavaScript;
    • HTMLS;
    • CSS;
    • UI framework;
    • Vue (desirable);
    • Cypress (desirable);
  • Experience of Back End Software development including:
    • Java 8 (+);
    • Spring;
    • Hibernate;
    • SQL;
    • Restful;
    • TDD;
    • Rabbit MQ;
    • Continuous Integration;
    • GIT;
    • Maven;
    • Eclipse (desirable);
    • Groovy (desirable).
  • Experience of working in the defence or public sectors would also be desirable,
  • As would experience of Radio Communication systems.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in a suitable engineering discipline (or similar relevant qualification)
  • Candidates without this qualification will be considered, if they can demonstrate considerable relevant experience within an equivalent role
