As a Senior Project Planner, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering complex defence and engineering projects that help safeguard national security. This is your opportunity to influence high‑profile programmes within our Mission Systems business, a team recognised for innovative design, precision engineering and equipment support for customers in the UK and around the world.
Your work will directly shape how we plan, manage and deliver major submarine and technology projects. You’ll be central to driving performance, improving schedule accuracy, and ensuring integrated plans deliver on time, to cost and to quality. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Develop and lead the creation of fully integrated project schedules that drive effective delivery.
- Engage with Project Managers, Control Account Managers and customers to ensure plans reflect scope, progress and priorities.
- Analyse performance, including scenario planning, baseline variations and earned value metrics.
- Maintain governance artefacts, ensuring schedules align with project management and schedule management plans.
- Support and collaborate within the wider Planning Discipline, contributing to best practice and future capability.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Planner
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Experience within a similar project planning environment.
- Comfortable working with governance artefacts and supporting junior team members.
Qualifications for the Senior Project Planner
Essential:
- No formal qualifications required.
Desirable:
- Experience of Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis.
- Relevant industry training or professional development in project planning.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. You will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance, but you will need to obtain Security Check (SC) once in post.
