The role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity to be heavily involved in the complete life cycle and engineering services across Land Defence including provision of Design Authority and in service support.

Day-to-day, you’ll be part of the Engineering function, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading work packages around defect investigations, platform configuration management, developing platform modifications, and supplying specific automotive engineering knowledge to the wider team.   

• Lead Defect Investigation and root cause analysis of in-service issues
• Provide automotive engineering expertise
• Write Engineering change requests and conduct design change impact assessments
• Work with the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) / Supportability engineers to ensure that platform modifications are successfully enacted
• Produce and maintain platform configuration records and maintain configuration control

This role is full time, 37 hours per week provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer:

• A deep understanding of standards, processes, materials, and manufacturing
• Automotive Engineering experience
• Competent PC user (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Engineer:

• Educated to degree level with a relevant engineering degree, or equivalent workplace experience
• Certified engineer, or be on the pathway to becoming certified
• Full driving licence

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
