The difference our new Senior Marine Systems Engineer will make
As a Senior Marine Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be working closely with the Defence Equipment and Support organisation in the Ministry of Defence, and the Royal Navy to provide the Systems Technical Authority for the Marine Engineering systems on both the Royal Navy’s T45 Destroyers and Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers, which are essential in supporting both front line operations and the through life sustainment of the systems.
Day-to-day, you will provide proactive and supportive Technical Authority services to the MSSP Customer within delegated authority, working collaboratively with other stakeholders and provide authoritative recommendations for design intent maintenance and update, including but not limited to safety case, hazard, design baseline, obsolescence, maintenance and technical documentation management, performance improvement, training and design change. You will develop proposals for remedial action and changes to design, operation, training etc., to maintain and improve safe, capable and available Platform Systems.
In conjunction with the Technical Services ILS Team, you will review and analyse systems performance information, including but not limited to defect and OPDEF data, S2022s, OSP data, maintenance management data and OEM maintenance, safety and other bulletins, to maintain a comprehensive record of system capability, availability and safety against the design baseline and identify potential risks and issues. Where allocated responsibility, sponsor the Technical Authority requirements for design intent maintenance and update, including but not limited to safety case, hazard, design baseline, obsolescence, maintenance and technical documentation management, performance improvement and design change.

Essential experience
• Chartered Engineer or on a path to achieving it, with proven experience in activity associated with integrated systems and registered with an appropriate body.
• Demonstrable experience in Mechanical & Electrical marine systems including managing safety and maintenance activities.
• Experience in a technical role in the support of engineering assets, particularly in performance analysis.
• Proven ability to work in and support a collaborative and open team culture.
