As a Senior Human Factors Engineer you will have a unique opportunity to influence the design and integration of systems that are vital to national defence, ensuring they are intuitive, safe, and effective for the people who operate and maintain them.
Day-to-day, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and deliver Human Factors Integration activities across multiple high-profile defence programmes.
- Apply human-centred design principles to ensure systems are operable, maintainable, and safe.
- Undertake Human Factors analyses such as task analysis, workload assessments, usability evaluations, and human error analysis.
- Collaborate closely with internal multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
- Liaise with customers as the HF point of contact.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of HF capability within the business.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Human Factors Engineer
- Proven experience of applying HF principles and methods in defence, aerospace, or similarly complex domains.
- Familiarity with defence standards (e.g., DEF STAN 00-251, JSP 912) and HFI frameworks, or equivalent from another industry background
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications for the Senior Human Factors Engineer
- Degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, or a related discipline.

The successful candidate must be a SOLE UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
