The Role

An exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Senior Fluid Analyst is available within our Mission Systems business unit.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical support to the Mission Systems projects to optimise designs for performance.

• Responsibility for delivery of fluid analysis to budget and timescale.
• Origination and checking of fluid analysis documents produced by the team.
• Supporting the development of fluid analysis methodology to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Supporting the development of fluid methods to ensure the Analysis, Modelling & Simulation Team are using the latest techniques and can address customer requirements, e.g., compressible or multiphase CFD analyses.
• Developing fluid analysis methods and rolling these out via training, both formal and informal to the rest of the team.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Senior Fluid Analyst

• Experience in fluid analysis in a high integrity environment, e.g., nuclear, defence.
• A good understanding of first principle fluid dynamics.
• A history of working to and improving fluid methodologies.
• Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (Babcock use Fluent and CFX), 1D modelling (Babcock use Python, Matlab and AMESim).
• Experience of transient 2D and 3D analysis.

Qualifications for the Senior Fluid Analyst

• Mechanical Degree, or HND or HNC in an Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability.
• Registered with a relevant Engineering Institution and working towards Professional Registration desirable.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate must obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
