As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have the opportunity to lead innovative software development, modelling and analytics projects that support one of the UK's most important defence programmes. Working at the heart of strategic submarine maintenance and disposal planning for the Royal Navy, you'll use advanced analytics and Python-based solutions to help inform critical business and operational decisions.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to
- Lead and motivate a high-performing team to deliver software development and analytics services aligned to programme requirements.
- Prioritise and coordinate analytics and software workloads, ensuring effective resource allocation and responsiveness to changing customer needs.
- Develop high-quality Python-based software, modelling and analytical solutions using best practice development methodologies.
- Design innovative optimisation, modelling and algorithmic capabilities that support strategic planning and executive decision making.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and analytics teams to provide meaningful insights, data visualisation and robust analytical products.
This role is based at Bristol and is 35 hours per week. Set working times are 7.5 hours Monday to Thursday and 5 hours on Friday, finishing at 12pm
Essential experience of the Senior Data Scientist
- Experience developing and delivering analytical solutions using Python.
- Proven experience leading or managing small teams of data analysts and/or software developers.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and balancing changing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for analysis and data visualisation
Qualifications for the Senior Data Scientist
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computing, Information Technology or a related discipline
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
