The Role
As a Senior Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working in the Strategic Communications area within the Mission Systems business unit of Babcock International Group, you would have the opportunity to support a range of exciting design, manufacture and support contracts for several key clients domestically and internationally.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll help generate significant value for the business by reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services whilst managing stakeholder and supplier relationships to increase the overall value derived from the supply chain.

 

  • Personally lead major supplier spends and manage supplier performance issues to conclusion.
  • Negotiate terms and contracts with appropriate Flow Downs with a view to mitigate risk and maximise value.
  • Carry out strategic sourcing activities on high value, high risk and complex requirements. 
  • Manage and develop internal relationships cross functionally.
  • Help develop the pipeline of future opportunities, harnessing relationships with key support partners and taking growth opportunities through the governance process to contract completion.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with up to 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home. This role requires travel to Plymouth and Bristol.

Essential Experience of the Senior Buyer - Source to Contract Senior Specialist

  • Full sourcing process to include contracting, terms negotiation, value-for-money and risk analysis.
  • Significant procurement experience, ideally in an operational project procurement environment.
  • Management of diverse internal stakeholder groups


Qualifications for the Senior Buyer - Source to Contract Senior Specialist

  • A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant Engineering/Supply Chain/lean culture experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
