The role

As a Requirements Change Engineer, you’ll join a newly established team working at the forefront of engineering change, supporting the maintenance and sustainment of the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet. This is a role where you’ll directly influence critical engineering workflows, helping teams integrate more effectively, enabling stable work packages, and improving the way technical requirements and engineering changes are delivered.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be part of a fast‑moving, multi‑project environment with unique exposure across the business. You’ll build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, gain invaluable insight into naval engineering and defence operations, and grow your expertise within a world‑class engineering organisation committed to your development.

 

  • Manage and deliver engineering change control activities and provide technical support to maintenance work packages.
  • Liaise across multiple organisations to gather engineering justifications and ensure outputs are concise, accurate and high quality.
  • Engage with stakeholders to improve stability and clarity of maintenance packages during planning.
  • Support requirement development, project scope definition and solution identification for specific work packages.
  • Contribute to risk management through identifying, assessing and planning mitigation for risks, opportunities and issues.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 2 days in the office/onsite.

 

Essential experience of the Requirements Change Engineer

  • Experience working within a project or engineering environment in a regulated industry.
  • Background in project and change management with strong process‑driven thinking.
  • Methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work independently with a flexible, proactive attitude.

 

Qualifications for the Requirements Change Engineer

  • Engineering‑based degree, or HNC/HND supported by (or working towards) IEng/CEng status.
  • Project Management qualification at APMP level or above (or equivalent experience).
  • Additional engineering, systems, or change management training or accreditation - Desirable

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
