The role
As a Programme Manager you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Mission Systems enable our customers to deliver their mission, through our products and solutions, using intelligence and analysis and delivering critical communication services. Our aim is to be at the centre of our customers' modern digital backbone by connecting and delivering sensors, decision support, and air effectors across military and business domains

 

Day to day, you’ll accountable for the provision of programme management for the DSRS Programme, a strategically important programme within the RF Communications Portfolio. The ideal candidate will display behaviours that align with our Purpose and Principles and be able to lead an international multi-disciplined team.

 

  • Lead an internationally based team across various sites ensuring purpose and principles are at the forefront
  • Empower mangers and work stream owners to manage their area of expertise whilst driving continual innovation into the programme to deliver strategic objectives and improvements
  • Develop and nurture key stakeholder relationships (both internal and external) to achieve results and deliver Babcock’s strategic objectives. 
  • Develop and maintain a strong, collaborative working relationship with the MOD and our key supply chain partners
  • Commercial responsibility within a complex project delivery environment, including profit and loss accounting, forecasting and the identification and management of benefits and risk
  • Responsible for business growth, improvements and capability development across the programme

 

This role is  full time position 37 hours a week and will be based at Ashton, Bristol with hybrid working from home arrangements. 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview. 

 

Essential experience of the Programme Manager

  • A background in leading successful project and programme delivery within a Defence environment. 
  • Experience in delivering a programme, where staff are dispersed around a number of sites within the UK and internationally.
  • A good understanding of the defence domain, preferably with experience in HF Strategic communications.
  • A track record of developing and nurturing key stakeholder relationships (both internal and external) to achieve results, in particular with the Ministry of Defence
  • A demonstrable appetite for business growth, capability development and leading teams

 

Qualifications for the Programme Manager

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
