The role
As a Principal Supportability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We are tasked with providing the technical knowledge and experience into supporting the UK MoD’s trilateral commitment to help the Australian Task Force (ATF) develop a submarine build and support capability including infrastructure, workforce, operational support and regulatory framework.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll develop the support strategy by liaising with our customer, other parts of the MoD Organisation and our other industrial partners to ensure that all aspects are considered and that the most appropriate advice and recommendations are provided.  

 

  • Provide engineering support and thought to the future submarines through the design, down selection and build process, to provide support to the MoD and define the preferred support solution
  • Support naval programmes while proactively improving our capabilities
  • Develop and manage the strategic direction of supportability analysis, while cultivating and maintaining stakeholder relationships across key interfaces, internal and external to the business, through the deployment of effective communication and management

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. There will also be occasional travel to other sites in the Bristol area as well as Helensburgh, Scotland.


Essential experience of the Principal Supportability Engineer:

  • Leading, managing and developing a team
  • Production, review, and approval of calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports 
  • Evaluating technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including Intregated Logistic Support (ILS) process improvements
  • Driving and implementing the development of ILS / Integrated Product Support (IPS) solutions 

 

Qualifications for the Principal Supportability Engineer:

  • Be a Chartered member of an accredited STEM body such as IMechE, IMarEST or IET
  • Qualified to minimum of a degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, System, Data or Maths). ILS experience in lieu of formal education would be considered

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
