The Role

As a Principal Infrastructure and IT Services Analyst, you’ll be a key technical expert supporting the operation of critical infrastructure systems on-board submarines and at MoD sites, including data centres. You’ll ensure the high availability and performance of core applications and IT services, making a real difference to national defence and the resilience of the UK’s most vital assets. Day-to-day, you’ll provide expert IT infrastructure support by managing, maintaining and upgrading core systems and applications, ensuring high availability and efficiency, making sound technical decisions and delivering all services to agreed standards.

 

  • Delivering a full range of IT infrastructure support tasks, including managing and monitoring server hardware and software and installing, supporting, and upgrading infrastructure elements.
  • Specialising in maintaining the high availability of core infrastructure applications and services, including web applications, messaging, monitoring, patching and supporting Citrix and VMware desktops.
  • Installing and configuring new applications, supporting upgrades and using monitoring tools to troubleshoot and audit core systems.
  • Making informed, responsible technical decisions that balance business and customer needs.
  • Ensuring all tasks and procedures are completed efficiently and to agreed service levels.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Principal Infrastructure and IT Services Analyst

  • Experience supporting infrastructure applications and services in complex, demanding environments.
  • Knowledge of managing common infrastructure applications and services (e.g. Exchange, Skype, Solarwinds, SCCM).
  • Server hardware build, support and upgrading.
  • Knowledge of MoD systems and processes is highly desirable.
  • Citrix desktop/application support, with some knowledge of Netscalers, Storefront and thin client applications.

 

Qualifications for the Principal Infrastructure and IT Services Analyst

  • Relevant IT infrastructure or engineering qualifications are advantageous but not essential—demonstrable experience and technical expertise are highly valued.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
