The role
As a People Capability Development Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers a unique chance to influence the future of nuclear engineering at Babcock. You will focus on ensuring adequate arrangements for people, processes, and tools to facilitate engineering delivery throughout the Nuclear sector.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be facilitating and supporting improved engineering delivery throughout the Nuclear Sector. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide ongoing career guidance and sustain a mentoring network.
  • Develop and implement an engineering competency framework and assessment process, including global common and nuclear sector-specific elements.
  • Facilitate Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) for nuclear sector engineering.
  • Develop and compile a consistent suite of sector engineering learning and development solutions to address known skills gaps or those identified through competency assessment data.
  • Develop nuclear sector standards and strategy for knowledge management.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the People Capability Development Lead  

  • Extensive experience in engineering and engineering management or leadership.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at all organisational levels, including with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective people management and social skills, recognizing the importance of people in the success of the engineering business.
  • Understanding of change and project management principles.
  • Proactive, self-starter capable of identifying and executing actions/activities with minimal support.

 

Qualifications for the People Capability Development Lead  

  • Degree level or higher in engineering or a relevant people capability field.
  • Chartered professional status in engineering (CEng) or a relevant people capability field, or actively working towards it as part of continuous professional development.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
