The Role
You’ll join the Naval Architecture & Outfitting Team, where you will own and deliver tasks on in-service and future platforms, ensuring that submarines and submariners go to sea safely. The Naval Architecture & Outfitting team is currently experiencing considerable growth therefore, this is an exciting opportunity to become a part of a technically capable and highly motivated team as we continue to grow and deliver complex outputs to support UK submarine availability.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Help monitor & manage the impact of through-life growth of UK submarines.
  • Complete stability analysis using empirical methods & industry recognised software.
  • Support submarine stability experiments.
  • Produce calculations to enable safe Submarine docking and undocking.
  • Creating bespoke operator procedures, processes or guidance relating to submarine stability, maneuvering & control
  • Participate in a wide range of design activities including feasibility & options studies, concept and detailed design to support in-service design change and capability improvements.

 

What you’ll need:

  • BSc, BEng, MSc or MEng in Naval Architecture / Marine Technology / Ship Science or other relevant STEM degree subject
  • Effective personal management, communication & organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively to deliver in a complex environment.
  • Be able to use industry recognised software (e.g. NAPA, Aveva, MaxSurf, MS Excel, MathCAD, MATLAB, Python, Rhinoceros and AutoCAD) in order to undertake analysis & design activities.
  • The willingness to work within a dynamic team environment, taking accountability and maximising personal contribution to deliver results.
  • Have an analytical & proactive approach to problem solving.
