Role Description

We currently have an opportunity for an NDT Engineer to join our Production function working within Defence Systems Technology (DST), Bristol.


DST is a business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, DST works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. We’re based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas.  The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven people.

 

Responsibilities
You will be the Lead on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality for all NDT operations and technical queries and ensure regulatory and client standards compliance with responsibility for the NDT operations for which qualified and assigned, and capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications.

You will have suffi:cient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication and product technology, to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available.

You will ensure adequate self-development and training/cross training is undertaken to fulfil the role and responsibilities, share knowledge with team members and contribute to team development and develop, qualify, and approve procedures, establish and approve techniques, interpret codes, standards, specifications, and procedures, and designate the particular NDT methods, techniques, and procedures to be used within the scope and limitations of any certification held.

 

Required Experience / Qualifications
You will possess PCN /ASNT Level 2 or 3 in: Visual (VT), Penetrant (PT), Magnetic (MT), Ultrasonic (UT).

 

Knowledge or qualification in Radiographic (RT) is desirable and you will have significant recent and relevant experience in a similar environment.

 

You will have experience of handling high profile strategic projects, with good communication skills, IT and capable of working on own initiative.

 

You will ideally:
• Be self-motivated.
• Be methodical with good attention to detail.
• Take pride in their work.
• Work well in a team.
• Be safety conscious.

• The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
