The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join our Design and Supportability team within Through Life Equipment Support, contributing to the engineering excellence behind critical land defence platforms. You will play a key role in developing design solutions, resolving in-service issues, and ensuring equipment performs reliably throughout its lifecycle.

 

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

  • Conduct defect investigations and perform root cause analysis on in-service equipment issues
  • Produce engineering change requests and assess design impacts across platforms
  • Deliver re-engineering activities including CAD modelling, material analysis and feature evaluation
  • Maintain bills of materials and ensure configuration control is upheld
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to produce design reports and support engineering processes

 

Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of Defence Support Group sites on a weekly basis such as; Andover, Warminster, Donnington and Bovington alongside home working arrangements.

 

Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of engineering standards, materials and manufacturing processes
  • Apply engineering practices and techniques in a practical environment
  • Solve problems creatively with excellent attention to detail
  • Use CAD tools to support design and engineering activities
  • Bring experience from defence or a similar regulated environment, desirable but not essential.

 

Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent workplace experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
