We provide technical support to the Royal Navy’s new Aircraft Carriers and state of the art Destroyers.  These ships are strategic national assets that conduct a global role in assuring peaceful international trade and promoting British industry around the world.

We aspire to make sure that our systems and equipment are always safe to operate by our Royal Naval Marine Engineering customers who are deployed at sea across the globe.  They carry out national tasks ranging from the protection of our coastline to international deployments and exercises with our allies.
Who we are looking for:
The successful candidate will be a strong problem solver and clear communicator who can interpret customer requirements, undertake a range of technical investigations and act as the focal point for ship’s teams in addressing issues and risks associated with Marine Systems design.

The Marine Systems Engineer role
The role involves providing technical support to our Royal Navy Customer whilst working closely with our colleagues in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and our partners in Industry. The successful applicant will be required to:
•    Carry out technical investigations, analyses technical options and prepare reports with recommended actions.
•    Apply systems engineering principles to ensure that system design intent is maintained.
•    Conduct impact assessments of proposed system design changes.
•    Work with our Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team to ensure that systems and equipments are properly configured and maintained.
•    Support our Safety team in managing safety risks by participating in safety and design reviews.
•    Provide technical inputs to contracts covering services that might be required of a third party such as an engineering supplier.
•    Apply engineering instinct and initiative to identify opportunities for design improvement in ship’s systems.
•       Actively comply with the Company safety rules and regulations or local procedures and any Company initiatives to improve safety.
•    Proven experience in the engineering design and support of complex engineering systems and equipments.
•    A working knowledge of software systems and equipment interfaces.
•    A proven track record in working collaboratively with both internal and external Stakeholders and Customers.

Skills and attributes
•    A problem solver able to address a problem and arrive at an effective solution.
•    Good IT skills with the ability to quickly become familiar with a range of IT systems.
•    Able to gather and interpret information from a wide range of sources.
•    Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
•    An engaging personality able to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
•    A good knowledge of engineering concepts and principles.
•    An understanding of the product lifecycle.  
•    Familiarity with the policies and processes associated with Technical Governance.
•    The ability to generate compliant technical documentation.
•    A working knowledge of safety and environmental engineering.
Education and qualifications
•    A minimum of an HNC in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
